B2I Evaluation and Data Collection Workgroup

Focus Group Opportunity

Several organizations in Nebraska are working with Child Trends, a nationally renowned non-profit research center, to evaluate Bridge to Independence (b2i) and other related programs and services in Nebraska.

As part of the evaluation, young people will participate in small in-person focus groups held by Child Trends to share their experiences and thoughts on b2i and related programming/services. Further details on the focus groups can be found in this informational handout.

We need your help recruiting interested young people to participate. Here’s how you can help:

  • Share focus group details with young people you work with and encourage them to participate. You can use the information in the handout to help!
    • Note that we are looking for young people age 19 or older, who were in foster care in 2010 or later, and were in foster care after their 16th birthday. If you’re unsure a young person fits the criteria, that’s ok. We will verify their eligibility.
  • Help interested young people provide their contact information via this link by March 15, 2019: https://tinyurl.com/NE2019Contact

If you have any questions about the focus groups or the study in general, don’t hesitate to reach out to Kristin Sepulveda (Child Trends): ksepulveda@childtrends.org, or Claire Hoff (Nebraska Children and Families Foundation): choff@nebraskachildren.org. Thanks in advance for your help!

The Bridge to Independence (B2i) Evaluation and Data Collection Workgroup was created in late 2017 and is Chaired by Dr. Katie Bass (Foster Care Review Office).  The group currently has three areas of focus:

  1. Coordinating and providing feedback on the external evaluation
  2. Reviewing and guiding the data that exists from other organizations that are provided to the B2i Advisory Committee
  3. Identifying the desired outcomes for young adults in the B2i program

This workgroup provides regular updates to the B2i Advisory Committee. Materials and meeting minutes can be found on the past meeting documents page for the B2i Advisory Committee.
